Dental implants can restore damaged teeth, preventing any further discomfort. Dental implants restore your smile and strengthen teeth that have become less reliable. Get back to the foods you love and the smile you want with dental implants.
Your teeth are secured to your jaw by its "root," which extends below the gumline, out of sight. A dental implant is an artificial root which is surgically inserted into the jawbone to replace the original when it becomes too damaged to function normally. After administering anesthetic, your dentist will first peel back the thin layer of tissue covering the gum. The dentist will then drill a small hole into the gumline in order to insert the implant (or "post"). The implant is perfectly measured to fit with your other teeth along your jawline. The gum is then stitched and the implant is given time to heal. Eventually, the implant will fuse with your bone tissue and then it functions just as your original root did. It is now ready to act as an anchor for a replacement tooth, usually a crown. Once the healing process is complete, your replacement tooth functions like all the others, and is cared for through brushing and flossing.
Dental implants are meant to replace broken or damaged teeth, and they behave just as your natural teeth do. Dental implants are intended as a long-term solution to tooth loss, and they should require no further treatment once the post has healed and your replacement has been attached.
